Fiat Punto Evo, evolution Grande Punto, will make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next. This is destined to repeat the success of its predecessor and become the new pacesetter for innovation, safety and style, thanks to a variety of innovative features.
Nicknamed “Evo” to identify the level of car design that can satisfy even the most demanding customers in terms of technology, comfort and respect for the environment.
The Punto Evo disclose technical excellence first and foremost through a variety of Euro 5 engine options, including second-generation Multijet diesel and 1.3 petrol engine 1.4 with MultiAir revolutionary technology developed by Fiat Powertrain Technologies and eventually to be incorporated in all Fiat Group machines. Fiat’s innovative and conventional powerplants also joined the dual-fuel methane gas and units to create the most complete ecological and various machines in the segment. By reducing consumption and emissions in mind, the new Punto Evo also offers the Start & Stop system off and restarting the engine at stop-and-go traffic. Start & Stop being introduced as a standard feature in all Euro5 gasoline and diesel engines. Other systems make first appearance in the Evo is the Punto “Blue & Me-TomTom ‘, the new portable satellite navigation unit that lets you set the phone, navigation and practical information on the function of color touch screen.

In the field of safety, Evo Punto set new standards thanks to 7 airbags, including driver’s knee airbag. The Punto Evo is one of very few cars in its segment with a driver’s knee airbags fitted as standard on all versions. Other innovative safety systems are also available, including the Hill-Holder for help with hill starts, adaptive ‘cornering’ front fog lights automatically turn on the light with dyed in accordance with steering angle, and Fiat is tried and tested ABS, EBD (Electronic Brake force Distribution ) and ESP (Electronic Stability Program) system.
Finally, the new Punto Evo even more attractive thanks to the work of Fiat’s Centro Stile. Interior (fascia, seats and instrumentation) has been completely updated to be more prestigious and elegant, and the exterior has been given a completely restyled look too.
Technical Innovation
The Punto Evo disclose technical excellence first and foremost through a variety of Euro 5 engine options, including petrol units and the system is equipped with a revolutionary MultiAir second generation Multijet diesel engine.
Developed and patented by FPT – Fiat Powertrain Technologies – MultiAir technology will gradually be adopted by all engines fitted to the Fiat Group. MultiAir heart is a new electrohydraulic valve management system that reduces fuel consumption by controlling the air directly through the valve inlet (without using the throttle). MultiAir reduce emissions (thanks to improve combustion control) and also improve performance by increasing both power and torque.
The same results have been achieved in the diesel version thanks to the adoption of second generation Multijet units in range. This machine combines the new common rail injector that, thanks to a balanced hydraulic servo-valve, controlling the amount of fuel injected into the combustion chamber with improved accuracy, and faster and more flexible order than in the past.
Options are available for Evo engines Punto is the most complete and ecology in this market segment, and even includes two alternative fuel engines, a unit of methane and LPG.
New Punto Evo even equipped with the latest version of the Blue & Me system. “Blue & Me-TomTom” is a fully integrated infotainment system that lets you set the phone, navigation and practical information on the function of color touch screen. The system is the result of a partnership between Fiat Group Automobiles and TomTom, the European leader in portable navigation systems, and integrated with other systems thanks to the car Blue & Me system developed with Magneti Marelli. The new system also incorporates “eco: Drive Info” for real time information on your driving style and useful suggestions to reduce the environmental impact and optimize the consumption by changing the equipment and use the gas pedal to match the nature of the route.
Respect for the environment
At Fiat, innovation means a sense of greater respect for the environment, too. In fact, the environment is one of the main issues driving product development, and ensure that the range of most green Fiat in Europe. The Punto Evo no exception to this rule.
MultiAir new machine proves the point. Compared with conventional gasoline engine with the same size, a more developed MultiAir engine power (up to 10%) and torque (up to 15%), while consuming significantly less (up to 10%) and produced less CO2 (up to 10%) , less particulates (up to 40%) and less NOx (up to 60%).
In the same way the second generation Multijet diesel engine also offers more accurate combustion, with benefits for consumption, emissions, NVH and drivability. This has been achieved through a new common rail injector that modulate the fuel injection into the combustion chamber and provide, for the Euro 5 engine, the improvement of about 2% in consumption and CO2 emissions homologation cycle, and reduction of NOx emissions by 30%.
Still by reducing consumption and emissions in mind, the new Punto Evo will also offer the Start & Stop system switches off the engine when you stop and restart for you to move again (at a red light for example). Start & Stop will become standard on all Euro5 gasoline and diesel engines.
The methane-fueled engine is not only the most ecologically dual fuel engines in the segment B, produce only 115 grams / km of CO2, but also thanks to the most economical way to record the cost of less than 4 Euro per 100 km. Among other benefits, methane-fueled engine benefits from the highest government incentives in Italy: Euro 5000 if it combined with a donation to discard your old car.
Then there is the LPG-fueled version, the Fiat developed a long experience in using alternative fuels in response to exceptional growth seen in this market. The Punto Evo boasts record GPL autonomy beyond 1500 km urban cycle, and operating costs up to 50% lower than the gasoline equivalent.
Safety
The Punto Evo was designed and built to achieve the highest safety level. This model offers a large number of safety systems (standard or optional depending on the markets and versions) ranging from dedicated to passive safety: 2 front airbags, front side airbags 2, 2 window bags and a driver’s knee airbag (the Punto Evo is one of the few cars in this segment where the device is standard on all versions).
The Punto Evo is also one of the few cars in its class equipped with adaptive ‘cornering’ front fog lights automatically turn on the light with dyed in accordance with steering angle. And do not forget that the new Punto Evo also guarantees a constant way and can be entrusted with the dynamic thanks to electronic control systems for brake and steering wheel. The ABS system is available throughout the complete engine range includes EBD (Electronic Brake force Distribution), ESP (Electronic Stability Program) and Hill-holder to assist with hill-start.
