Anniversary of the 75 Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrows continued famous Lime Rock Park in Lime Rock, CT during the Labor Day weekend when the 1939 W 154 Silver Arrow takes historic run track for the first time in 70 years.
The Collier Collection, owner of 154 W, have been struggling for several years to restore the legendary Silver Arrow with ongoing assistance from Paul Russell and Company, Crosthwaite & Gardiner and Mercedes-Benz Classic Center in Germany and Irvine, CA.

“Recovery of 154 W is regarded as one of our proud achievements,” said L. Scott George, President and Curator of the Collier Collection. “To finally hear the engine start sound is amazing and very satisfying experience.”
Mercedes-Benz W 154, one of the world’s largest auto racing, not running on the track since 3 September 1939. Manfred von Brauchitsch finished second and the fastest race lap record in Yugoslavia (Belgrade) Grand Prix in just this racing car.
In 1938, W ? 154 six of nine Grand Prix season and one year later shows that the body has been revised in 1938 the existing chassis. The car was heavily modified for the 1939 season to include increased fuel capacity, redesigned brake drums, and a new radiator which gave the W 154 a smaller nose. During the season, multi-stage supercharging was introduced with a larger blower primary and secondary smaller blowers. Further engine modifications allow the carburetor will be programmed with an extra jet, which was opened at certain throttle settings. 1939 Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow won five of seven races of the season.
Mercedes-Benz W 154 will make a way in to the track during the Annual Vintage Festival at 27 Lime Rock Park on Saturday, September 5, and Monday, September 7 from 1:30-2:00. Vintage Festival Chairman Murray Smith will push 154 W with the help of specialist machinery, Dick Crosthwaite.
