below is press release :

Interestingly the new 2010 Lotus Exige S240 entering the United States and Canada market in the fall of 2009 with new front styling, a new rear wing and the same rare combination of exceptional performance and high efficiency.

Lotus Exige is a famous high-performance coupe which has a good reputation as a choice for drivers who want uncompromised performance, both on the road and on track.

2010 Exige S240 introduces several key enhancements to update the appearance and improve aerodynamic performance.

A restyled front end and a new larger rear wing low resistance, not only reduces drag, but also provide a more muscular stance wrapped mild increase overall vehicle appearance.

Front end of the restyled including larger, more air intake point to help channel more air through the radiator to increase engine efficiency. Home front wheel, on both sides of the central aperture, the consumption of two additional feed air flow into the twin oil cooler. Horizontal vane halves of this oil-cold air intake air flow to stabilize and further improve the cooling efficiency.

Mounted below the three new air intake, is a new aerodynamic splitter 2010 Exige S240. Made from a lightweight composite, the splitter is now extended to wrap around the front and sides carved raised lip to deflect the air in the tires to reduce drag.

Composite rear wing is based on the design of the road Exige GT3 concept car shown at the Geneva Motorshow in 2007. Compared with the year 2009 Lotus Exige’s tailgate mounted wings were wider and 7.1 inches taller mounted 1.8 inches and 2.4 inches further. New rear wing is mounted to the body shell rear-end through the plate that not only enhance the rigidity of the structure but also ensure that as much air flow through the rear wing. Careful management is improving the stability of air flow, reducing barriers and most importantly, maintaining downforce impressive figure 93 pounds at 100 mph.

Light weight Exige S240 has a certain power output is the highest of any global emissions-certified cars at 133 hp per liter and is a perfect demonstration of the philosophy of Colin Chapman’s performance through light and Lotus’ relentless pursuit of efficiency. The same technology that makes high-performance lightweight cars are also made efficient. How many cars are available on the market today can rocket 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds, top speed go up to 150 mph and yet returns 26 mpg EPA highway driving? ”

Like all Lotus cars, the functional components of the car is also designed as a beautiful Russell Carr, Head of Lotus Design, explains, “For 2010 we have taken extreme visual and Exige has provided even more visual drama. The changes that we’ve integrated into the front and rear Exige a clearer signal and purposeful intent. functional rear wing is a race-inspired, fresh air intake and wide-angle full-splitter gives a harder-edged and aggressive look. On the whole, perform better and provide Exige planted the illusion that both the front and rear a wider car than the truth, but without losing the character of fast and slippery. ”

Roger Becker, Director of Engineering Vehicles said, “the changes we have made to the 2010 Exige very fine when taken individually, but considered as a complete package they make a significant improvement of aerodynamics and overall look of the car. The Exige is a classic fit-for-performance goals machine. Tweak design we have made has been to reduce barriers by cleaning the air flow in front and back of the car while retaining the impressive numbers balanced downforce. The end result is attractive high performance driving experience. ”
Heart Exige S 240

Integrated roof air scoop feeds the air intake through air-to-air intercooled and supercharged 1.8-liter Lotus-tuned and the Toyota-sourced 2ZZ-GE engine with Variable Valve Timing Intelligent (VVT-i) to provide 240hp at 8000 rpm and 170 ft .- lbs. of torque at 5500. Weighing just 2077 pounds, the Exige S240 sprint to 60 mph in a blazing 4.1 seconds and 100 mph barrier with a screen in about 10 seconds. Although supercar-like acceleration and 150 mph top speed, fuel economy is rather un-supercar like 20 mpg city and 26 mpg highway thanks, in part, to the aluminum six-speed manual gearbox and Lotus ownership T4e Engine Control System which includes variable rpm cam switching.

Lotus Launch Control and Lotus Traction Control

Through all the lessons on the track with the Exige GT3 racing program, Lotus Sport has contributed another important technology – launch control variables combined with variable traction control.

Launch control allows the driver to determine the number of revs they wish to use during a standing start. Having programmed that limit, the driver then holds their foot down fully on the gas pedal and sidesteps the clutch pedal for a very quick departure from the line. Clutch damper cushions the severity of the clutch to transmission engagement to minimize stress to the drivetrain. Launch control also keeps wheel spin at bay until 6 mph, after which the traction control assumes its duties.

As launch control, the driver can adjust the amount of the desired traction control from the driver’s seat, altering it moves according to the characteristics of a particular angle. The amount of traction control can be varied in more than 30 additional 0-7 percent of tire slip, or really gone. Information center in instrument cluster shows what level of traction control when you’re in and out
Chassis, Suspension and Braking

At the core Exige is a revolutionary chassis and consists of extruded aluminum sheets and built with aerospace epoxy bonding technique, the first of its kind in the world. Chassis weighs only 150 pounds, which allows the U.S. to spec Exige tip the scales at a very lean 2077 pounds, including standard air conditioning, ABS, power windows, dual airbags, audio system and other facilities that make fun Exige encouraging. While meeting the Lotus founder Colin Chapman’s mandate is very light, then the structure of the Exige is quite difficult to meet all U.S. government crash standards. Suspension tuning and effectiveness in each car is only as good as a ‘bracket’ is all attached. The epoxy-bonding sheet of aluminum extrusions and the Exige chassis structure has a high torsional rigidity provides a strong foundation that allows very precise tuning of the absorbers and springs to strike the perfect balance between the ability of extraordinary handling and grip while still providing a comfortable ride.

The 2010 Exige S240 will continue to have a fully independent suspension with unequal length wishbones, Eibach springs and one way adjustable Bilstein gas dampers that can be arranged together with the front anti-roll bar to allow customers to customize the handling characteristics of the car to their own requirements .

New for 2010, Track Pack will include optional Ohlins dampers that can be adjusted with threaded spring perches and remote oil reservoir front and rear.
Brake system includes large diameter 308 mm cross-drilled and ventilated front and 282 mm cross-drilled and ventilated rear discs with AP Racing 4-piston front and Brembo single-piston rear calipers. Lotus-tuned songs, servo-assisted, four-channel ABS braking system increases performance and minimizes stopping distance without taking over from the driver’s skill.
2010 Exige S240 in more detail

There are several other enhancements that make the Exige ranges more sophisticated and better value than ever before. As with the 2009 model year range Exige, driver and passenger airbags are standard on all models and on-board Tire Pressure Monitoring System is standard in North American cars.

Instrument package in the Exige contains so much more than just a pair of back-lit style quickly. He also has a high definition LCD message panel that can display scrolling text message with vehicle systems information.

Package tool always displays the fuel gauge, engine temperature and odometer, but you can choose to display the time, trip distance or a digital read-out of velocity calibration as opposed to the existing your speedometer dial – if calls are in mph, with the reading is in km / h

Warning symbol ‘hidden until lit’, keeping the instrumentation free from visual clutter and distractions until needed and then provide warning information on the ‘need to know’ basis. Gear changes ‘shift’ lights also remain hidden until required. There are three shift up lights, cumulatively lighting when the driver drew near to the rev limiter and when all three lights, they flash to indicate that you’re almost on the rev limiter so it was time to replace a tooth!
A “key” problem

The Exige has a “Thatcham approved” alarm / immobiliser systems and combine the control button for the alarm / immobiliser and central locking functions. This key feature three buttons, one that locked the doors and set the alarm / immobiliser is crowned with the style of the famous Lotus roundel. The second key to open the door and de-activate the alarm / immobiliser, and the last button is a panic button to sound an alarm if the driver needs to draw attention to the car for any reason.

New 2010 Lotus Exige S240 is scheduled to launch in the U.S. and Canada in the spring of 2009. Prices for 2010 Exige S240 will remain consistent with the 2009 model year cars ranging from $ 65,690 without destination fees.
