This event is scheduled on the weekend 17/18 April 2010 and will feature some of the best driving roads in the north of England, plus the social side of large chance for owners of hospitals to meet fellow fans and driving their cars in a perfect environment.
The proposed schedule is as follows:
ONE DAY
Crooklands ranging from 9.30 to take ‘back track‘ to Kirkby Lonsdale, then A65 to Ingleton, graduated B6255 Hawes to Ribblehead Viaduct. A good driving roads.
Simmonstone coffee stop at the Hall.
Then Buttertubs Pass, is shown in the ‘Top Gear’ test road, to the Moorland Swaledale and some single track roads criss-cross Fells with spectacular views.
Lunch at the CB Inn, Arkengarthdale, James Herriot country.
Then Moorland roads through forest Stang to Barnard Castle. Some smaller roads around the reservoir to the B6274 to Brough. Both fast driving with a few hard corners!
The roads into the country attractive Tan Hill, Britain’s highest pub (optional stops!), More Moorland road back to Swaledale, then B is a good road from Keld to Nateby with panoramic views to the Eden Valley. Then very quickly swept south and undulating B6259 and A685 to Sedbergh.
Tea at Farfield Mill and Craft Center.
Final leg through Barbondale, back to the A683 and A684 on the M6 to Kendal and back to Crooklands for dinner.
DAY TWO
Take the road from B Crooklands to Milnthorpe and through several small single track road to Levens Bridge. Then rapidly climbed towards the Lythe Valley Windermere A5074 before doubling back on the road is narrow and small Gummers How twistier views over Lake Windermere and stops for coffee at Newby Bridge.
‘Return the streets’ from here to the A5084 to the edge of Coniston Water then passes through a single track road Broughton Forest with views of the Duddon Estuary to Barrow in Furness on a sunny day. Then a quick run over Moorland Corney Falling lunch at Muncaster Castle.
Afternoon and then ran much slower but the view needs to be appreciated! First there was a dramatic Scree slopes in the thread before we Wastwater our way through the narrow but beautiful Eskdale valley, following the ‘La’al Rat’, the narrow gauge Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, before the peak of the event! We finish with a pass across from the twin, Hardknott and Wrynose with 1 in 4 gradient and some sharp turns. There is little breath as we passed under the beautiful Langdale Ambleside before handle ‘Struggle’ to climb to the top of Kirkstone Pass. There was then just run down the pass back to Windermere for afternoon tea and a chance to say goodbye.
Will cover a distance of about 150 miles per day.
Basic package cost is £ 299 (per car with driver and one passenger) imposed a minimum of ten orders and includes one night dinner, bed and breakfast, coffee, lunch and tea on Saturday, coffee and tea on Sunday afternoon and entered to Muncaster Castle and Farfield Mill.
EXTRA NIGHT in Crooklands Hotel approx. £ 100 per room, per night, based on 2009 prices. (A group rate may be negotiable).
