The Aston Martin DB9 will give way to new generation in 2013 or, at most, in 2014. The new DB9 will debut almost ten years after the current generation has replaced the DB7 in 2004. The arrival of the second generation of British coaches has been postponed because of the economic crisis that has severely affected the auto industry, without excluding manufacturers of luxury sports cars like Aston Martin.
The DB9 will also have the new aluminum body, while the style is similar to the One-77, as shown in the reconstruction graphics by Autocar. The car will be identical to the current size, it is also used today‘s VH platform, also used for the Vantage. All the efforts of engineers Gaydon will focus on reducing the mass of the car. By using lighter materials for the body, the Aston Martin DB9 weight decrease by about 10% to less than 1500 kg.
As for engines, Aston Martin did not follow the philosophy of downsizing and will continue to use the 6.0 V12 engine, as repeatedly emphasized by President David Richards. Values are increased power and torque, while emissions and fuel consumption will be reduced through the implementation of direct injection. The new Aston Martin DB9 will emit up to 300 g / km of CO2 and will run approximately 7 km / liter fuel.
