From 2011 Mini will debut in the World Rally Championship (WRC) deploying a Countryman prepared by Prodrive and equipped with the supercharged 1.6 engine combined with four-wheel drive. The British team will participate in only a few races so as to accumulate the necessary experience to undertake the adventure complete edition in 2012 and attend class for “many years”. Using several components derived from the Countryman “civil” will save 25% in development compared to a traditional WRC. Mini and Prodrive will allow teams concerned to make the first test drive starting next fall.
