The agreement which has been much debated in recent days is now official: Tesla and Toyota have confirmed that a prototype will soon realize RAV4 electric battery pack with lithium-ion product from their small house in California. There is more than the recent advances: Toyota aims to bring this SUV in the U.S. market with zero emissions in 2012.
Tesla is planning to produce and deliver to a small test fleet of Toyota RAV4 electric start road testing the model by the end of 2010. The first mule, notify the two houses, has already been assembled for some time and is struggling with the first road test. For the uninitiated, however, the electric RAV4 is not a novelty.
Between 1998 and 2003, Nissan produced it and then sell or lease well confide in 1485 specimens, all destined to private and fleet customers in California as part of the Zero Emissions Mandate west of the state. For the curious: the NiMH battery pack was clearly stated and guaranteed a maximum range of 130 km, although some pieces touched on the road 170.
