BMW has confirmed the presence of 5 ActiveHybrid concept forthcoming Geneva Motor Show. This is the new 5 Series hybrid, most likely, will come on the market in 2011. Despite being the third model in the family of the Bavarian house ActiveHybrid, the BMW 5 Series hybrid will be presented with more content than the existing 7 and ActiveHybrid X6 ActiveHybrid, both equipped with the engine 4.4i Twin Turbo V8 from 407 hp coupled to an electric engine by only 20 hp.
Instead, the BMW ActiveHybrid 5, the electric motor – powered by lithium-ion battery – an output of 52 hp and is coupled to the new engine TwinPower 3.0 Turbo 306 hp, and the 8-speed automatic transmission. 160% more power will allow the electric motor to move the car on their own, especially at low speeds, reducing fuel consumption and emissions. The list price will not be exaggerated. The BMW 5 Series ActiveHybrid will debut after the 5 Series Touring Series 5L and long wheelbase for China, both expected later this year.
