Mercedes presented the new F800 Style, a concept car in Geneva for the presentation in anticipation of the future sedan-coupe, designed to replace the CLC. His 474 cm long, in fact, let assume the adoption of the platform (no more than a sandwich) to those Class A and Class B next generation, which will also be used for the SUV so far known as BLK. The Mercedes F800 Style will be long – as mentioned – 474 inches (2.92 cm step), for a width of 194 cm and a height of 1.44 cm. The volume of its trunk is equal to 440 liters.
The prototype is equipped with a conventional hybrid system, consisting of an internal combustion engine with split V6 (300 horsepower) and an electric motor powered by lithium-ion battery that provides 109 others. The emissions are thus limited to 68 grams of CO2 per kilometer (2.9 liters of fuel per one hundred kilometers), and acceleration 0-100 km / h is covered in 4.7 seconds for a top speed of 250 km / h. Mercedes engineers have used the transmission 7-speed semi-automatic (available on the S-Class Hybrid) to dictate the timing between the two engines.
The Mercedes F800 Style architecture can also be equipped with fuel cells to ensure zero emissions. Hydrogen, in this case, allows the unit to deliver 140 horsepower combined, enough to push it to 100 km / h in 11 seconds flat with a consumption of 0.9 kilos of hydrogen per one hundred kilometers. The concept car also brings the debut of two technologies to the Mercedes next venture: the Distronic Plus Traffic Jam Assistant works in conjunction with the active cruise control and allows the “brains” of curves automatically set up to 40km / h top speed, while Pre-Safe 360 ° using a new battery of sensors to prevent the effects of collisions.
