2011 Ford Explorer

The American car manufacturer Ford has released official pictures and details of the 2011 model of the SUV Ford Explorer, which presents news from both aesthetic point of view of the engines. Explorer is a well known brand, especially in the United States, as regards the range of the company, though not always the kind of fame has been positive. That is not all analysts are convinced that it was a good idea to give this car (very different from the previous year) the same name. Are the numbers to determine who will have been right.

By the manufacturer are aware that the new engines are more efficient and offer low power consumption. The engine offered as standard is the 3.5 V6 290cv that should burn 20% less than the 4.0 of the outgoing model. Then there is a smaller 2.0 turbo four-cylinder direct injection, with a capacity of 237cv, whose consumption should be 30% lower than 4.0.

Both engines are abbianti six-speed automatic transmission and front wheel drive. The four-wheel drive is available only on model 3.5, together with the control “Terrain Management System” which allows you to optimize the response of the car in different soil conditions such as snow, sand and mud, in addition to the normal setting.

The overall look I respect what you would expect from a Ford Explorer. The new model is slightly larger than the former. Inside there is room for six or seven people with a third row of seats designed for children. The design is complemented by 17-inch wheels (standard on versions) and 20 (for the XLT and Limited models).
