There are still at least three years at the start of production of the first electric vehicle of the BMW range Megacity, but thanks to the gentlemen of Auto Express have the opportunity to observe the first rendering of what could be called i10 BMW. The objective of the Megacity project is to produce a series of electric cars, including two-and three-wheel vehicles. This car has an innovative structure and carbon fiber body and the all-electric engine. ActiveE could be inspired by the prototype presented at the Detroit Motor Show.
Much of the carbon elements of the car should be produced at the new BMW plant in Moses Lake (Washington), the United States. Externally, the i10 gets his line from that of the BMW 1 Series to look good but more like a miniature version of the BMW X6.
According to sources the new electric car produced by German manufacturer should have a five-seat configuration and size comparable to that of the Volkswagen Golf. The energy generated by the electric motor of the BMW i10 will be transferred to ground through the rear-wheel drive.
Probably the first prototype of the new range of cars from BMW Megacity will be used as official cars during the London Olympics in 2012, under the partnership agreement that sees the German company as a sponsor of the important sporting event.
