Mitsubishi Motor Corporation and Singapore Cycle & Carriage Automotive have signed a cooperation agreement for the promotion and development of electric cars in the country. The contract calls by the Japanese manufacturer, the supply of 25 Mitsubishi i-MiEV city car to the Commission for Economic Development in Singapore, including the Agency for the energy market Ente for ground transportation in the country. The fleet will form part of a task force of electric vehicles in the Singapore Government must set up in 2011.
“We are proud to welcome Mitsubishi as the first major supplier of electric vehicles for our program – said Leo Yip, President of the Commission – This experimental project is an excellent example of how Singapore presents itself as a living laboratory for vehicle manufacturers, infrastructure providers charging and other stakeholders electric mobility. ”
The city Mitsubishi i-MiEV electric car now sold in Japan, Hong Kong and Australia. The manufacturer has in place various programs to partnerships with several foreign countries such as Monaco, Iceland and Denmark.
