KTM, the Austrian manufacturer has become synonymous with off road, now seems to want to even groped its way to the maxi scooter: indiscretion, not officially confirmed by the house Mattighofen, however, does not seem entirely far-fetched. In fact the house has already made some products outside its core business such as the KTM 1190 RC8 R or X-Bow, so it’s not entirely new.

According to sources, the new Austrian maxi scooter may be equipped with the same 1000 cc engine of the Super Duke and install an automatic transmission with sequential COR selector to choose between the three maps available (City, Open Road). To frame this solution is that of a lattice structure of steel with aluminum mounts and 17 “wheels: these are just a few leaked details about the new chassis of the scooter. There’s also the price assumptions, which should not be less than € 10,000, if it enters the scooter actually in production.

Ducati would also planning to enter the scooter segment with high-powered so it is possible that in the coming years we are witnessing a real boom in this market segment would further increase the already strong competition.

A trend that can have multiple reasons: perhaps most manufacturers plan to rebuild the lost sales in the motorcycle sector entering the scooter (where the decline was smaller, at least in part), perhaps even sharply changing what users are looking for in half to two wheels or European manufacturers are simply trying to copy Japan’s and have a range as varied as possible.
