A few weeks after the commercial launch of the renewed Mercedes CLS broadens the range by introducing the 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY versions BlueEFFICIENCY and 500, both available with 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The latest-generation 4MATIC system involves an increase in the order of 50-70 pounds of weight compared to the type 2WD version, it gets worse the consumption of 0.2-0.6 liters and is mated to the 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission only. These “ties” are rewarded with excellent traction, even on non-optimal, with a percentage split 45:55 with the presence of a center differential that allows to change this ratio depending on road conditions.
The CLS 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY is equipped with the new six-cylinder 3.0 diesel with 265 hp and 620 Nm, while the top of the range CLS 500 BlueEFFICIENCY uses the 4.7 V8 from 408 hp and 700 Nm Both engines deliver performance sports car: Acceleration 0-100 km / h in 6.2 seconds for the CLS diesel, in less than nine tenths (5.3) for petrol. The latter is available as standard with the Start & Stop system. At the beginning of 2011 Mercedes also will introduce a new price list S-Class 350 4MATIC BlueEFFICIENCY and Class S 500 4MATIC BlueEFFICIENCY, cheaper and more frugal than the versions currently in range. The 3.5-liter V6 with 306 hp and 370 Nm makes the flagship German ecological construction to consume 8.1 liters per hundred kilometers with emissions of 189 grams per kilometer, while the S-Class with a V8 engine (435 hp, 700 Nm) requires 9.8 liters with emissions of 228 grams.
