McLaren has confirmed that officially go into production a version of the GT3 supercar MP4-12C, albeit in limited numbers. As part of the project, the car will be born from the collaboration with the SRC Racing, will compete in several European GT Championship races in 2011, while the final version will be ready for customers in 2012.
The power should remain at an altitude of 600 hp as well as on the road version, while the regime of the 3.8 V8 is expected to rise up to 8,500 rpm from 7,000 rpm the standard version, with the peak power of 600 Nm available at 3,000 rpm, although already 80% of power is available already between 2,000 and 6,500 rpm.
To make some comparison, the Ferrari 458 produces 570 hp and 540 Nm of torque, while the Mercedes SLS has an output of 570 hp and torque of 650 Nm
In the past, McLaren Racing and CRS worked together, producing the McLaren F1 GTR Le Mans winner 15 years ago, more than six Longtails for the Le Mans 12 years ago.
