BYD introduces the show in Detroit S6DM Dual Mode, a hybrid SUV with four-wheel drive that uses a 10 Kw electric motor on the front axle from a 75 Kw at the rear and a 2-liter 102 hp petrol engine with 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox .
According to the Chinese manufacturer, the S6DM can travel with only the rear electric motor of 75 kW for about 60 km, while at higher speeds or if you run out of energy in the batteries can be used only petrol engine, still in 2WD mode. The hybrid mode, however, makes use of endothermy and the electric rear-wheel drive or the mode, exploiting the full power available. The combustion engine can finally work together like the electric front extended range, to recharge the batteries and comes complete with start-stop system.
Hybrid technology allows for a whole range declared total of 500 km, but do not know either the values of emissions and consumption, nor the details of the charging time mode plug-in. The S6DM, as well as the E6 crossover will be launched on the American market during 2012.
