The prototype hybrid diesel Volvo V60, which will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show 2011, according to a statement by the Swedish company should be ready for production. This hybrid car will have a particular system, which represents a different approach to this technology than those seen to date. Have not been announced specifications and performance of the Volvo V60 hybrid, but expect more in the coming days if the manufacturer really is planning to introduce short on the market.

This wagon will be powered by a turbodiesel five-cylinder engine from 215 hp and 440 Nm of torque combined with an electric motor, 70 hp. The first transfers its power to the front wheels, while the second operates the rear wheels. If you use the electric-only mode, therefore, the Volvo V60 will have rear-wheel drive.

The autonomy of the car, thanks to its lithium ion batteries from 12 kWh is about 50 km using only electric propulsion. The EPA estimated fuel equivalent are 1.9 liters per 100 km. This is because, according to the manufacturer, the diesel engine would come into service until the battery is fully depleted.

At the moment there is no other information about the recharge time, acceleration, top speed on using both the autonomy and propulsion systems. Expect the Geneva Motor Show to find out more.
